Adrian Thompson began painting in 1984, initially using watercolours, before moving to oil on canvas.
With all his family and ancestors being sea fearers, his first paintings were of Hull trawlers. He carried on with the maritime theme and branched into passenger ships and liners. He gained further exposure through the Ferens Art Gallery Open exhibition and was contacted by the fishing charity to do their Christmas card, followed by the RNLI , who asked if he would donate a painting every year for their brilliant cause. Through helping the charities, Adrian was asked to submit pieces of work for the Mall Galleries in London, then Sotheby’s & Bonham’s auction houses with great success.
