Inspired by painters who have worked outdoors, from the Impressionists onwards, Bruce Mulcahy has, for over thirty-five years, been producing his landscapes on the spot in all seasons and weathers. His materials (oil, gouache or acrylic) provide the strength of colour and tone and allow the variety of marks to be made which together suggest what it was like to be in front of the scene itself, where, as Bruce puts it, "something said, Stop. Paint here".
Bruce gained an honours degree in Fine Art at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1978 and is a Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. His work is in collections across the U.K. and other countries including Ireland, France, Holland, Germany, Italy, America, Canada, Australia and Japan and has exhibited in numerous galleries across the country, including The Mall Galleries, London; Manchester Academy of Fine Arts; House of Commons; and Leeds City Art Gallery.
