Whitby is a seaside town north of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Situated on the east coast at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby has an established maritime, mineral and tourist heritage. The red swing bridge, which crosses the River Esk and the harbour, is one of Whitby's prominent landmarks.
