Sir William A. Stanier F.R.S. departing from Euston Station c1960. This Coronation Pacific locomotive was built in 1947 at Crewe. Named after the former LMS Chief Mechanical Engineer, Sir Wlliam Stanier. Stanier had introduced the “Duchess” class ten years earlier. Shown here in LMS red livery, and as built, ie unstreamlined.
